Creative Forces...Who's Who

Cassandra Hume (Writer. Actor) is a proud founder of In Search of a Song Productions. Her first play, a one-woman show, The Kitchen Spanish Tango (2007), turned her half-Mexican restaurant blues into parody and song. Cassandra’s second full length play, The 7 Sins of a Body-Hating Food-Lover (2008), lovingly tackled the voices of body image that must be laughed at someday.  Cassandra participated in Monarch Theater’s playwriting workshop with Migdalia Cruz in December 2008 and began writing her next surreal play about a young girl in Rio De Janeiro, titled, Saudages.  She is thrilled to be in production with her third play, The 'Ex'-Cycle, another NYC-based romantic satire, which tackles the comedy of life after "the break-up."
Cassandra graduated with a BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Pennsylvania. Acting Theatre Credits include: Showing Out (Nuyorican Poets Cafe), Sweet Bird of Youth, Deborah in From Door to Door (Broward Stage Door) Happy Journey to Trenton & Camden (Edinburgh Fringe Festival), and film credits include Arya.  She studies acting with Penny Templeton, and is grateful for her early ballet training at the Washington School of Ballet and all the fuel that provided.

 MISSION

In Search of a Song Productions was founded in 2006 to develop stories, particularly those of women, that express the cry, the scream, or silence which might go unexpressed but demands to be heard.  We are all storytellers, but we search for how to express our story.  Beyond introducing new solo works, ISOS is committed to incorporating, music, dance, and mixed media into theatrical productions which follow humor and truth to the dark, sometimes bizarre places where imagination may lead.
